Arunachal Pradesh celebrates its statehood day on February 20 every year.
Following the 53rd Amendment of the Indian Constitution in 1986, it was created a Union Territory in 1972 and became a full-fledged state on February 20, 1987.
It was formerly known as the Northeast Frontier Agency (NEFA) and was part of Assam.
It shares International Borders with Myanmar in the east, Bhutan in the West and a disputed border with China in the north at the McMahon Line. While it shares the borders with the states of Assam and Nagaland.
Itanagar is the state capital of Arunachal Pradesh.
